2econd Class Citizen’s emergence on the scene created a buzz of anticipation from a diverse collection of music circles. The young man from London, England makes music that he simply calls “wyred folk”: a hybrid of electronically produced folk combined with instrumental Hip Hop. Swinging between melancholy and pure anger, strong guitar riffs mined from old psych rock records and the weeping voices lifted from old folk music, he seems to find his real home in a crate of old and dusty vinyl.

2econd Class Citizen has toured many times in Europe. He uses various music controllers and instruments to recreate his unique sound in a live environment. This time he will bring his guitar, turntables and drum pads taking his show a step further. His new album and EP (featuring Myka 9 and Graciellita among others) are due out in December on Dday One’s The Content Label.

Andy the Doorbum is a musician and visual/performance artist currently living and working in Los Angeles, California, USA.

He is known for blending his haunting music, accompanied by powerfully raw live vocals, with lights and costumes to create a live stage show experience that is a visual/theatrical performance that embodies an artistic vision both strange and surreal; somber and uplifting; a journey that takes the viewer through a string of emotions from "very inspiring" to "completely unsettling."

He has been a recording and touring artist since 2005, having released six full length albums, three EPs, and numerous split releases with other artists, as well as contributing to various music compilations and independent film soundtracks/scores. He has also had his artwork and costumes featured in an upcoming independent film release entitled Bring Water (http://www.bringwaterfilm.com) and contributed to several gallery exhibitions featuring his drawings and visual work.

ANGELS DUST

ANGELS DUST is vocalist FLAVIA CIAMPI and producer DAVID LAMPLEY, both originally hailing from San Diego, CA. Their bewitching, hypnotizing yet soulful debut summons the same heaviness and somber darkness of Portishead & Mazzy Star.

Ciampi’s almost-whispered vocals are front and center, anchored by loose swinging beats that are as unnerving as they are catchy. Lampley (also known as Psychopop, one half of San Diego instrumental noise legends SKRAPEZ, as well as a frequent GONJASUFI collaborator) handles the gritty lo-fi production duties.

The mesmerizing and raw 6-song debut EP “Slow Tapes” is scheduled for release on cassette (& digital download) in June 2015, with the limited-edition red-marble 10″ vinyl in August 2015 on HIT+RUN [HNR48].

MC/Poet born and raised in Zambia in 1978, moved to England at the age of 12, Asbest The Moor King is part of a generation of 90′s Hip Hop heads. Asbest released his first debut E.P in 2008 on Latenite Lounging Records under the title “Never Had It Right” produced by SumSuch. Asbest met with producer DJ Goo. After collaborating on a number of tracks with producer DJ Goo they released the album “Each Story Tells” in 2011 on Synchrovision Records. Following this Asbest went on to release “When It Makes Sense” in 2012, a project with Brighton beat-maker Legendary TP (Tom Yum).

Asbest is now working on a new album entitled, Realm of Glamour (on the astral plane) to be released in 2015, and taking this opportunity to tour mainland Europe alongside 2econd Class Citizen and jamesreindeer in order to widen his reach and help promote his particular brand of conscious, head-nodding hip hop goodness.

Raised under a NO BULLSHIT immigrant father and hippie mother who allowed their son to freely bump Poison Clan and Circle Jerks at a very early age. With an older brother who taught him to love BASS Music, and a neighbor who taught him to skate, fight, and make bombs, Bleubird raps from an interesting perspective. He caught the tail end of the “Indie Rap” wave and managed to ride it throughout the world until it crash-landed him back home in South Florida where he was happy to embrace his roots and welcome the maddening sun blotto. Mike Patton once called him stupid and one time, in a cab in Zagreb, Kevin Martin told him he cusses WAY TOO FUCKING MUCH. CAVANAUGH (OPEN MIKE EAGLE & SERENGETI)

In a new urban development on the far west side of Detroit, Florida, it’s mandated by a 5 to 4 city council vote that a new housing structure be erected that has both luxury condominium units available for private ownership and section 7 housing in the same building. Via separate entrances the Cavanaugh building services two very different populations. And though the lifestyles of the residents vary, each unit relies on the same system of pipes and wiring and are serviced by the same crew. Mike and Dave have a combined 14 years of experience in Cavanaugh maintenance. They usually work drunk, mumbling greetings to the residents, soaking up all the disdain that the higher and lower income inhabitants have for each other. They talk shit to each other all day. Complaining about their home lives, spinning passive aggressive tales where they pretend to be angrier, stronger, more expressive men.

Though Serengeti and Open Mike Eagle have known each other for many years and went to Southern Illinois University together, Cavanaugh is the first group that the two have collaborated on and it’s the first project Mike has produced in its entirety. Ceschi Ramos is a rapper and singer from New Haven, Connecticut who has been hopping genres and spilling guts for the better part of two decades. He has been seen outside venues at 3am in Germany playing an acoustic guitar and singing to people that didn’t want the show to end. He has written poems to fans from behind bars whilst locked up on bogus marijuana charges. He has suffered a spiral fracture of the humerus while arm wrestling a marine in Hawaii. He has recorded with and toured alongside some of independent rap music’s most influential figures, including Sage Francis, Busdriver and Astronautalis. He has been in bands described as hardcore, crunk rap, lo-fi synth pop, Latin progressive and psych-jazz-rap. He has crafted abstracted and personal narratives mining the depths of depression and heights of hope. He has slept on countless floors when hotels weren’t in the touring budget and lost girlfriends and jobs all for the love of creating and performing.

Ceschi was born with four fingers on his right hand, which served as partial inspiration for the name of his DIY record label, Fake Four, Inc. Those who have worked with him describe Ceschi as one of the most artist-friendly labelheads out there, a rare breed who values art over profit almost to a fault. Since 2008, he has curated a roster of wildly original and critically praised talent and put out albums from the likes of Open Mike Eagle, Buck 65, Sister Crayon and Dark Time Sunshine in addition to his solo records The One Man Band Broke Up and Broken Bone Ballads.

An engaging, theatrical live performer, Ceschi Ramos has treated entire venues like a stage, viewing the middle of the audience or an empty barstool as good a place as any to perform a soul-baring folk song or tongue-twisting rap track. Ceschi once described himself in song as “a martyr at most… a failure at least” and said that, “In the eyes of history I’ll be no more than a leaf on a tree.” He knows what it is to suffer for his art and is aware that music exploring the ugliness and sorrow of the human condition will always exist on the fringes of a game dominated by disposable escapism and expensive publicists. Yet he still pours everything he has into his craft, and on any given night you can find him tracking vocals at his cousin’s New Haven studio, warmly greeting fans and friends at a dive bar merch booth or rapping double-time in Japan or Europe for audiences that often don’t speak his language, but are able to see the giant heart at the core of it all.

Das Debut „Ne marche plus“ der Antifolkband Le Magnetophone entstand in Wohnzimmerstudio des Frontmanns David auf dem Land im wunderschönen Mandelbachtal. Er und Gitarrist Jonas basteln seit 2011 an der Platte, die sie nun komplett selbst produziert, gemischt und gemastert auf den Markt werfen. Musikalische Maxime war von Anfang an: „Es gibt keine musikalische Maxime.“ Entsprechend abwechslungsreich klingt die Platte und entsprechend wahnwitzig ging die Finanzierung der Selben via Crowdfunding, Wohnzimmerkonzerten und Musikkaugummiautomaten vonstatten.

Es schwirrt der Geist der Lügenpresse umher. Sogar den Bereich der Musiker und Künstler hat er schon infiltriert. Wieso? Pure Naturwissenschaft. Denn schon rein statistisch gesehen können nicht alle Pressetexte dieser Welt in denen die individuellen Künstler als einzigartig begabt beschrieben werden, recht haben und die Wahrheit sagen. Es gibt aber einen Rapper auf den alle vorstellbaren positiven Attribute des Kunstschaffenden zutreffen: Sein Name ist Ole Zett.

Mit seinen pointiert gesetzten Stakkatoflows, mit Sätzen und Reimen deren Ende erst in der übernächsten Zeile zu finden ist, mal schnell mal langsam vorgetragen, decken seine Raps ein breites Spektrum der Kunst des flowens ab. Seine Texte handeln von dem Geschehen auf dieser Welt, von Frauen, von Wack Mc’s, von der bösen Werbeindustrie, von abwendbarem Pech und lassen sich doch nicht mit einfachen Schlagworten beschreiben.

Er scheut auch vor Genregrenzen nicht zurück. Und nun schickt er sich an über 80s Boogie Funk auf circa 93bpm vom Geschehen in der Welt, von Frauen, von Wack Mc’s, der bösen Werbeindustrie und abwendbaren Pech zu rappen.

Ernsthaft, wenn es auch unglaublich wirkt.

Parkwaechter Harlekin comes from the small town of Baden near Vienna, where since his childhood he honed his abstract and metaphorical lyrical style and distinct musical production surrounded by vineyards, woods, rich people and suburban boredom. His music is polished sludge and muddy chrome, somewhere between kitschy pop and experimental rap.

He has released two albums „Liebe“ and „Die Unentschlossenheit der Tueren“ in 2010 and 2013 respectively on the Austrian independent Label Problembär Records and a number of free releases and collaborations through out the years.

His new album „Zum Fleiss“ was released on March 10th 2017.

As part of the Wolkenvorhang collective with theclosing since 2013, he had a hand in booking and supporting many of his heroes and inspirations in Vienna including Open Mike Eagle, Serengeti, Busdriver, Bleubird, Cars & Trains among many others.

Epilogs Musik lebt von Emotionen und baut sich eine eigene Nische irgendwo zwischen Abstract-Hip Hop, Indie, Noise und Elektro.

In Theory you can Hear Me heißt die neue EP. Wer diesen Künstler bereits aus der Kombination Broken Sequence kennt, weiß, dass es sich hierbei keinesfalls um leichtbekömmlichen Pop-Rap handelt. Die Tracks sind kritisch, zornig und lyrisch, die Flows abwechslungsreich und brilliant. Inhaltlich reicht Selbstlauts Spektrum vom politischen Rap über Unterdrückung und Widerstand bis hin zu urbanem Storytelling. Die kraftvollen Beats stammen von Mirac. Die beiden Musiker kennen sich bereits seit 15 Jahren und haben mit In Theory you can Hear Me zum ersten Mal seit 10 Jahren wieder ein längeres Projekt in Angriff genommen. Die Features von Sean Anonymous (Minneapolis) und The Unused Word (Wien) runden das Gesamtbild der EP ab. Und obwohl es sich bei In Theory you can Hear Me lediglich um eine EP handelt, ist sie mit fünf Tracks facettenreicher als manches Album.

Leben, Verlust, und Tanzen. Sex, Liebe, und fraktale Mathematik. Letzten Winter schrieb Sims More Than Ever in den Nachwehen einer Zeit die ihn persönlich hart auf die Probe stellte: Tod und Krankheit in den engsten Kreisen seiner Familie und seinen Freunden. Er beschloss die einzig akzeptable Antwort auf großen Verlust ist große Freude – dringende, trotzige, kompromisslose Freude. Die 13 Nummern auf More Than Ever laden die Zuhörer dazu ein den Weg dorthin und das Ausleben davon mitzuerleben.

Sims ist in der Stadt Minneapolis aufgewachsen, einem aktiven Teil der äußerst lebhaften und leidenschaftlich eigenständigen Hip-Hop-Szene in Minnesota. In seiner Schulzeit befreundete er eine Gruppe an Menschen, die in weiterer Folge gemeinsam Doomtree gründeten – ein siebenköpfiges Rap-Kollektiv, dass mittlerweile für die spannendsten, unklassifizierbarsten Releases dieser Epoche verantwortlich ist. Im Laufe der letzten 10 Jahre veröffentlichte Sims eine Vielzahl an Projekten, sei dies nun als Solokünstler (Lights Out Paris, Bad Time Zoo, Wild Life EP, Field Notes), oder als Teil des Kollektivs Doomtree (No Kings, All Hands, u.a.). Sein Tourneen führten ihn von Pittsburgh bis nach Prag, und auf Festivals wie das Glastonbury, das Riot Fest, und SXSW. Er hat seinen Ruf wieder und wieder als nachdenklicher Künstler mit einer unaufhaltsamen Liveshow bestätigt. (Jedes Mal wenn er das Publikum dazu auffordert „both hands up – now both feet up“ haben Besucher_Innen auf der ganzen Welt den Boden ächzen gespürt.)

Für die unbeugsame und abenteuerliche Produktion auf More Than Ever zeigen sich Lazerbeak, Paper Tiger und ICETEP verantwortlich, die den Grad zwischen keine Gefangenen zu nehmen und vorsichtiger Zurückhaltung mit Bravur meistern, zerschmetternde Drums und weitläufige Klanglandschaften. Nach langen Tagen und Nächten entstieg Sims seinen Keller im Süden von Minneapolis mit dem Ehrlichsten was er jemals aufgenommen hat – er bietet seinen Ängsten die Stirn, kämpft mit seinen Unsicherheiten, und ladet uns mit More Than Ever mit Swag, Witz und Rap-Skills auf diese Reise ein. Monumentale Ideen werden präzise auf epische Kopfnicker gepackt ohne dabei zu überrumpeln. Mit Songs wie Brutal Dance oder OneHundred präsentiert uns Sims seine ernste Mission, während seine haarscharfen Wortspiele, sein genauer Einblick, und seine blitzartigen Seitenhiebe ihn davon abhalten sich selbst allzu ernst zu nehmen. Skrapez is without a doubt the most rebellious hip-hop group in San Diego. DIY almost to a fault, the duo doesn’t do the normal things most local acts do, like maintain a Facebook page, record studio albums or curry favor with movers and shakers behind the San Diego Music Awards. Instead, they forge their own, distinctly hellish path, terrorizing unsuspecting audiences with brash soundscapes, clanging breakbeats and vicious turntable scratches.

Formed in the early ’00s, the duo—Jon Calzo, aka Tenshun and David Lampley, aka Psychopop, is essentially the missing link between San Diego’s two noisiest punk and rap movements.

Squalloscope is Anna Kohlweis, who exists as a multimedia artist, illustrator, music producer, composer, songer and singwriter based in Austria. Between 2006 and 2011 she was also known as Paper Bird, a name under which she released three full-length albums. Anna Kohlweis works as a solitary force on songwriting, production, recording, artwork, and music videos and is dedicated to rhymes, multi-layered choirs, field recordings, loops, vaguely sloppy beats, the rage of her thirties, the intensely personal, and quite possibly the slightly wacky.

Squalloscope releases include an album named “Soft Invasions” and two EPs, “Desert” and “Dispenser Box” (Seayou), as well as the self-released EP “Unpleasant Design”. Her fifth full-length album “Exoskeletons For Children” will be released in fall 2017 on Seayou Records and Fake Four Inc.

theclosing is a Vienna-based music and art duo that consists of Daniela Palma Caetano Auer and Alexander Hengl. Lukas Lehner / TSI was their third member until 2015. They have been working towards the goal of making beguiling and original electronic music by mixing analog and digital sources that evades easy genre classification since 2004. 

Their first official EP "the way to M" and their self-titled debut album were released on the American independent labels Circle Into Square and Fake Four Inc. Lately their sound became more influenced by ambient and noise elements, which you can hear on their album “Live at Beatmaker Sessions”.

They have played support shows for artists like Dälek, Zavoloka, Open Mike Eagle and Serengeti and collaborated with K-The-I???, Audio88, Babelfishh, Bleubird or Cars & Trains among others. Ever since 2013 they also organize the concert series Wolkenvorhang in their hometown Vienna, together with rapper and producer Parkwaechter Harlekin.

At their upcoming shows they will present new material from their forthcoming albums.

Rapper Ancient Mith aus den wilden Weiten der USA und Produzent Dot aus dem schön beschaulichen Augsburg kennen sich schon seit Jahren, entstammen sie doch beide der weltweit recht gut vernetzten Independent Rapszene. So waren sie bereits 2014 mit ihren jeweiligen Soloprojekten auf ausgedehnter Europatour und schmiedeten während dessen bereits erste Pläne für YAWL. Über das Internet intensivierten sie ihre Zusammenarbeit, verbrachten unzählige Stunden im Austausch, feilten gemeinsam an Aufnahmen, Songstrukturen, sendeten Ideen und Entwürfe über den Teich und wieder zurück.

YAWL klingt subtil düster, riecht nach Leidenschaft und Angst und schmeckt bitter-süß.

ZAVOLOKA

Kateryna Zavoloka, eine Soundkünstlerin aus der Ukraine, produziert experimentelle elektronische Musik, die von einem sehr eigenständigen Stil geprägt ist. Sie kombiniert fragile Elektronik und Field Recordings mit treibenden Rythmen zu starken Songgeflechten, die zwischen Härte und subtiler Schönheit oszillieren.

Ihr erstes Album erschien 2003. Neben Veröffentlichungen auf Zeromoon und dem österreichischen Label Laton, ist ihre musikalische Heimat vor allem auf Kvitnu zu verorten, für das sie zudem als Designerin tätig ist.

Zavoloka arbeitete in Kollaborationen mit Kotra, Seefeel’s Mark Clifford oder Feldermelder. Oft werden ihre Shows mit Livevisuals von Laetitia Morais begleitet. Sie war außerdem an mehreren genreübergreifenden Kunstprojekten beteiligt und spielte als Support für Aphex Twin.
